| Research Associate
(RA) is the entry-level research position at Equinox Group. Candidates are
typically recruited as they complete their undergraduate education. It takes
strong analytical capability to succeed in the position. Each new RA is
assigned a mentor (a senior staff member), receives introductory training
in Equinox Group methods and procedures, and works on client cases shortly
after joining the company. RAs get involved in most aspects of client cases,
giving them immediate exposure to client needs and the analytical solutions
Equinox uses to meet those needs. Within one or two years, RAs develop a
basic fluency in each of the company’s key competencies, and they gain proficiency
in Excel and Visual Basic. Ordinarily, an RA will be responsible for parts
of two to four projects simultaneously. Projects tend to last from two to
four months.
Research Associates typically have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in biology, mathematics/statistics, chemistry, or economics. Equinox Group offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes health and dental insurance, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, a profit-sharing plan, and a 401(k) plan. |
After receiving my B.A. in economics and psychology from Brandeis University, I began working at Equinox Group as a Research Associate (RA). As an undergraduate, I was originally interested in marketing because it appeared to combine the two disciplines, so I pursued several marketing-related internships. I realized, however, that I most enjoyed the analytical aspects of the work, which Equinox Group emphasizes. I have found Equinox to be a terrific experience and feel fortunate to have such a satisfying first job out of college. The casework is challenging and interesting, and I enjoy the chance to learn about many therapeutic areas, as well as receive inside glimpses of the medical profession and new therapies on the horizon. I also am able to hone my analytical, writing, and technical skills, as well as use my knowledge of French in physician interviews or reviews of medical literature. As an RA at Equinox, I received the opportunity to assist with important case work right away. My responsibilities increased as I grew more comfortable with the work. Although the learning curve is steep, my colleagues are supportive and always available to answer questions. The collegial, collaborative environment colored by people of great intelligence, wit, and personality plays a large role in my positive experience at Equinox Group. - Research Associate, Equinox Group |
